CGMT is comprised of trained and skilled research administrators that provide faculty and researchers in the Provost area units with seamless, high-quality sponsored research administration services. Our goal is to enhance communication and foster partnerships with faculty and staff as invested partners in the grants-management process in order to deliver best-in-class grants portfolio management.
Each supported PI is assigned a CGMT Grants Manager (GM) as a primary point of contact for all grants administration services. GMs are responsible for directing and managing the proposal process to ensure timely, compliant, and accurate submissions, including budget development, interpretation of sponsor requirements, and institutional review and signature. Post-award management services include award management, financial reporting and project closeout.
Responsibilities for CGMT-Supported Units
Below are the roles and responsibilities of the Principal Investigator (PI), Department, and CGMT throughout the pre-award and post-award process. Consistent communication throughout the pre-award and post-award process is essential for all parties involved. Adherence to Duke and Sponsor guidelines is critical.

I don’t know what I would do without our grant manager – she’s fantastic!
