Project Manager

Ekaterina (Kate) Thompson joined DORI in 2025, bringing extensive experience in project and program management within academic research and higher education. Prior to her current role, she held key positions at Wake Forest University School of Medicine and Duke University School of Medicine, where she led cross-functional initiatives supporting research operations, faculty development, and institutional strategy.

As a certified Project Management Professional (PMP), Kate applies evidence-based practices to support organizational effectiveness, stakeholder engagement, and continuous improvement & evaluation in academic settings. Her work is driven by a commitment to inclusive leadership, data-informed decision-making, and the advancement of collaborative research environments.

Kate earned her bachelor’s degree in international and global studies from UNC Greensboro and a master’s degree in global studies from UNC Chapel Hill. She is currently pursuing a doctorate of education in organizational learning and leadership at UNC Chapel Hill, with a research focus on strategic change and innovation in postsecondary institutions.
