Summer Camp Meets AI

DURHAM, N.C. -- As the first days of school approach, many teens have spent their last precious days of summer sleeping in, or hanging out at the pool. But one group of Durham middle schoolers spent it playing around with artificial intelligence chatbots.

By now you’ve probably heard of ChatGPT, an AI chatbot released to the public in late 2022 by the company OpenAI. Feed it a prompt, and it can write poems or songs in the style of specific authors, translate text from one language to another, and
