Professor Emeritus Peter Haff, Distinguished Geologist, Dies
Peter K. Haff, a distinguished figure in the field of Earth and Climate Sciences and professor emeritus of geology, passed away on Feb. 3 in Chapel Hill after a long illness.
Haff received his BA from Harvard in 1966 and his PhD from the University of Virginia in 1970. He came to Duke in 1988 with joint appointments in the Pratt School of Engineering and the Nicholas School of the Environment. His leadership was marked by his tenure as the chair of the Earth and Ocean Sciences Division from 2001
