There is a critical need for accessible, reliable transportation options for community-based research partners traveling to campus. These partners are essential to our mission of engaged scholarship and equitable research practices.

Background

Community-based research relies on strong, reciprocal relationships between the university and local organizations, residents, and stakeholders. These collaborations often involve individuals who may not have easy access to private transportation or familiarity with campus logistics. Without intentional support, transportation barriers can limit participation, reduce equity, and weaken the impact of research at Duke.

PERC Transportation initiatives

The Partnering for Effective Research Collaborations (PERC) Working Group has been gathering information on existing options at Duke, and working to expand opportunities.
