Dear Research Community at Duke,
This was a remarkable year for research at Duke. Despite the constraints of COVID-19, we persevered and served our research community and the wider world with efficient support services and innovative science.
We were intent on continuous improvement and learned from each other as we began a reorganization of the Office for Research & Innovation, an expansion of our translation and commercialization services, and a renewed focus on corporate partnerships.
Our pursuit of responsible conduct in research was greatly enhanced by a new office for oversight and a program of training seminars to get everyone on the same page.
Looking ahead, the Office for Research & Innovation will be taking a fresh look at our policies and processes to deliver value and help Duke's research – and researchers -- be more successful. Our new organizational structure enhances Duke’s prowess and reputation for excellence in research translation and commercialization and will increase the scope and impact of strategic corporate and university partnerships.
We’re proud of our university and its research and we want to continue doing good things in our community and the world. I am especially gratified to serve on the same team with all of you and look forward to another productive year ahead.
