Vacation LeaveEarn 15 days per year.  Unused leave is carried over to the  next year not to exceed 20 days.Unused vacation leave balance is banked, and if the Postdoc Scholar returns to the compensatory payroll, vacation leave will be restored. Appointee not eligible to accrue Duke vacation leave while on the non-compensatory payment system, but rather is entitled to a total of 40 days per year for personal absences (subject to the terms of their respective funding agency). Parental LeaveThe parental leave policy is equivalent to the staff leave policy at https://hr.duke.edu/policies/time-away/leaves-absence/paid-parental-leave-policyThe parental leave period will be the temporal equivalent to the staff parental leave period: 6 weeks (subject to the terms of their respective funding agency).Postdoctoral Associates are still eligible if they meet the criteria located at www.hr.duke.edu/parental_leave/.  The parental leave period for Postdoctoral Scholars will be the temporal equivalent to the staff parental leave period: 6 weeks (subject to the terms of their respective funding agency).Temporary parental leave eligibility and benefits differ with respect to regular rank versus non-regular rank appointments.  See Faculty Handbook for full details.For eligibility requirements, visit http://hr.duke.edu/policies/ time_away/loa/policy_details/ parental.htmlNo longer eligible.

HolidaysThe number of discretionary days and paid holidays will match that of the staff in the relevant school of the University.Unused discretionary days are forfeited. Family Medical Leave (FMLA)Eligible if employed for at least 12 cumulative months (does not have to be consecutive) and have worked at least 1250 hours in the previous 12 months prior to the leave.Not eligible through Duke University.  However, the appointee should check with their respective funding agency to determine if they are eligible through that agency.Postdoctoral Associates are still eligible if employed for at least 12 cumulative months (does not have to be consecutive) and have worked at least 1250 hours in the previous 12 months prior to the leave.  Postdoctoral Scholars are not eligible for FMLA through Duke.  However, the appointee should check with their respective funding agency to determine if they are eligible through that agency.Eligible for Temporary Medical Leave which counts as leave time under FMLA.
