I am a PhD student in the Department of Sociology, where my concentrations are race stratification and organizational sociology. Broadly, my research deals with race and diversity issues on college campuses; race and migration in and from Latin America; and issues of race, identity, and belonging. My current projects deal with the experiences of Latinx students at institutions of higher education; on racial identity discourses in the Dominican diaspora; and on the intersections of religion, migration, and politics via the New Sanctuary Movement. A Mellon Mays and IRT Fellow, I received a BA in Sociology and Africana Studies from Bowdoin College, where my research centered around incidents of racial bias and the experiences of students of color on predominantly white college campuses. I am also enrolled in the Latin American and Caribbean Studies Certificate Program at Duke.
