Nathan Tilley is a PhD candidate in the Graduate Program in Religion specializing in Early Christianity. His areas of research include intellectual history, eastern Christian literature of late antiquity (Greek, Syriac, Coptic, Armenian), ancient philosophy, and Christian theology. His dissertation examines human nature and perfection in the writings of Babai the Great (c. 551-628 CE), the influential theologian and monastic reformer of the Syriac Church of the East.
He holds a M.T.S. in the History of Christianity from the University of Notre Dame and a B.A. in Philosophy and Religious Studies from the University of North Carolina, Chapel Hill, where he was a Morehead-Cain Scholar.
