Iris Gilad

Iris Gilad is a fourth-year Ph.D. student in Art History specializing in contemporary Middle-Eastern art. She is conducting research on her dissertation, working title “Maps and Mapping Dislocation: The Art of Contemporary Middle Eastern Women Émigré Artists.” Her dissertation examines the themes of borders, migration, and mobility in the works of contemporary Middle-Eastern women artists, among them Elham Rokni, Sigalit Landau, Emily Jacir, Mona Hatoum, Anisa Ashkar, and Ariane Littman. She works under the supervision of Professor Kristine Stiles, France Family Distinguished Professor of Art, Art History & Visual Studies.
