Introducing COMPASS (Beta): A New Finder Tool for Researchers

We have great news! We’re excited to share the beta release of our new Finder Tool, COMPASS (Compute and Platform Selection Support for Researchers)

COMPASS helps researchers identify appropriate computational and data storage solutions based on data classification and other research needs. By answering a few questions about your data, research, and Duke affiliation, COMPASS suggests platform options that may be a good fit. This tool replaces SecureIt.

We’d love for you to share it with your teams, try it out, and share your feedback using the “Leave feedback” button. The left side of the tool features our AI assistant, while the right side offers a manual filter option.

We’ll continue to update COMPASS and add new resources and services over time. Future considerations include adding a mobile phone version, adding data repository and data collections services. Please use the feedback button to make additional improvement suggestions.

We happy to answer any questions—thanks so much for helping us test and improve COMPASS!

Announcing Duke Research Data Repository 2.0

The Duke Research Data Repository (RDR) has a fresh new look! We’re happy to announce that we recently updated the platform for the Duke Research Data Repository (RDR) to provide significant enhancements for data depositors. The new platform has been implemented in partnership with Duke University Libraries and TIND, a spinoff of CERN. The Duke University Libraries RDR curation team is excited to bring Duke researchers this new and improved system, and we look forward to continuing to support data sharing, curation, and reproducibility for Duke-generated data.

Read more here or check out this short video tour of the new system.

Reminder: The RDR is a fully open-access general data repository and is not appropriate for sensitive or restricted data.
